Pax Autocratica on PS5, Xbox and Steam Deck
Pax Autocratica is PC-only for now. Here is how it runs on Steam Deck, what controllers it supports, and what the developer has actually said about consoles.

No. Pax Autocratica is a Windows PC exclusive, sold only on Steam. There is no PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch version, and no announced plan for one.
It does not run natively on macOS or Linux either — the Steam store lists Windows as the only supported platform. It is playable on Steam Deck, with caveats worth reading before you buy for handheld play.

Steam Deck: playable, but not Verified
Valve rates Pax Autocratica Playable rather than Deck Verified. That is a meaningful difference: the game runs, but Valve's own testing flagged three specific problems.
What Valve found working:
- The default configuration performs well on Deck hardware
- The default controller layout is fully functional in-game
- On-screen controller glyphs match the Deck's buttons
What Valve flagged:
- The default controller configuration is not fully functional in some parts of the game — expect to touch the touchpad or on-screen keyboard for a few actions
- Text entry does not bring up the on-screen keyboard automatically. Anywhere the game asks you to type — naming things, search fields — you have to summon the keyboard yourself with Steam + X
- Some interface text is not legible at the Deck's native resolution. This is the one that matters most here: Pax Autocratica is half colony-management sim, and colony sims lean on dense tables, tooltips and resource counters. Small text hurts this genre more than it hurts a shooter
Practical read: fine for combat expeditions on the couch, tiring for long base management sessions. If the base-building half is why you want the game, play it on a monitor. Settings advice for both is on System Requirements.
Pax Autocratica controller support on PC
The game ships with full controller support, not partial. Specifically:
- Full controller support (Steam's own classification)
- DualSense and DualShock support — a PS5 or PS4 pad works
- Adjustable difficulty and custom volume controls
- Steam Cloud saves and Save Anytime
- Family Sharing enabled
Controller handling is something the developer has actively worked on rather than shipped and forgotten. Patch notes from the demo period include fixing an incorrect default mapping for Sprint and Slide, raising the maximum aim-sensitivity values for both mouse and controller, and correcting sensitivity that applied incorrectly in some situations.
What the developer has actually said about consoles
Nothing. We read every official announcement published on Steam — twenty of them, from the demo period through Early Access launch — and not one mentions consoles, PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
The Early Access launch post does say a roadmap exists: "the Ministry has authorized the publication of our current roadmap", followed by "These plans are not immutable. The exact content we develop, as well as the order in which it is deployed, may be adjusted according to what we learn from the field." That roadmap is published as an image rather than text, and the visible plan is about game content — not platforms.
So the honest answer is not "a console version is coming" and not "it will never happen". It is: the developer has not commented either way. If that changes, it will appear on the Steam news feed first — we track every announcement on Update History, and the channels to watch are listed on Official Links.
Why Early Access games rarely hit console first
If you are waiting for a console port, it helps to know why it usually comes late:
- Certification is a gate, not a formality. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo each require a submission-and-approval pass. A game that patches weekly — Pax Autocratica shipped patches on August 11, 12 and 13 in its first four days — would spend most of its time waiting in that queue
- Early Access means the design is still moving. UI, controls and systems all change. Porting a moving target means paying for the same work twice
- Console storefronts are stricter about unfinished games. Steam Early Access has no real equivalent with the same reach
- This one is a colony sim with heavy UI. That is the hardest genre to adapt to a gamepad — the Steam Deck legibility flag above is the same problem in miniature
None of that means a port is impossible. It means "not during Early Access" is the normal outcome, and silence from a developer at this stage is expected rather than suspicious.
FAQ
Can I play Pax Autocratica with a controller on PC?
Yes. It has full controller support, including DualSense and DualShock pads.
Is it on Game Pass or PS Plus?
No. It is a one-time purchase on Steam only — see Price, Early Access and the Missing Demo.
Will it run on my Steam Deck?
Yes, at the Playable tier. Expect to open the on-screen keyboard manually and to squint at some interface text.
