About the game

Pax Autocratica is a base-building action game with roguelite expeditions, in Early Access on Steam since August 10, 2026. You send squads out for resources, then spend what they bring home: repair the command center, unlock blueprints, and push research forward one tier at a time.

The part new players do not expect is capture. Enemies can be worn down and taken alive with dedicated capture rounds, then held in a prison you have to research before you can build it — and prisoners are what keeps your research moving.

This site is a fan-made reference. It covers what people check before buying — what it runs on, what it costs, where the demo went — and what goes wrong after: crashes, invisible buildings, ultrawide trouble. Every page records the date it was last checked, because Early Access patches land often here.

How to play

The opening hour has a fixed shape: mine Titanite, use it to repair the command center, and let the command center unlock the blueprints and research you need for everything else. Skipping ahead does not work — the center gates the tech tree, so it is the thing to keep upgrading.

Once the base is standing, the loop is expeditions out, resources back. Expedition progress carries across runs, and so does enemy strength: the further the campaign goes, the harder the fights get, whatever your own gear looks like.

Take prisoners early. Ordinary fire kills; a dedicated capture round is what leaves an enemy alive to grab. Prisoners need a prison, the prison needs to be researched first, and it holds ten at a time. Research without them is slow enough that most players notice the difference immediately.

Two things that catch people out at the base: human citizens have to sleep at night, and soldiers have to eat — food storage and a food hall are not optional decoration.

Inside a run, core fragments are the roguelite layer: pick-ups that change how that expedition plays rather than permanent upgrades.

Looking for something specific?

Before buying, three pages answer the questions people ask most: whether it runs on PS5, Xbox or your Steam Deck, what it costs and where the demo went, and whether your PC can handle it.

After buying, Crashes and Fixes collects the problems players actually report — full PC shutdowns, invisible buildings, blurry ultrawide. Official Links is where to find the Discord and who makes the game, and Update History tracks what changed in the last patch.

Quick questions are answered on the FAQ — release date, price, languages, and the things the developer has not announced yet. If you want to see exactly where a claim on this site comes from, Sources lists every reference with the date it was checked.

Every page records the date it was last checked against the game. Pax Autocratica is in Early Access and patches land often — if a number looks wrong, check that date first, then trust your own game over this site.

Early Access, patched often. Where this page and your game disagree, trust the game and check the update history.

FAQ

Is Pax Autocratica on PS5, Xbox or Switch?

No. It is a Windows PC exclusive sold only on Steam, with no announced console version. Details, including Steam Deck, are on PS5, Xbox and Steam Deck.

Does it run on Steam Deck?

Valve rates it Playable, not Verified. Read the caveats on PS5, Xbox and Steam Deck before buying it for handheld play.

Is there a demo?

Not any more. The demo was pulled when Early Access began, and a forum moderator has confirmed it is not returning. See Price and Demo.

Are there Pax Autocratica redeem codes?

No. There is no code entry box in the game and the developer has never issued promotional codes — it is a one-time purchase with no live-service layer.

What version am I on?

The developer does not publish version numbers; announcements have names like "DIRECTIVE AG-12" instead. Everything on this site is anchored to patch dates, listed on Update History.

The game crashed — is that known?

Several problems are known and being reported on the game's own Steam forum, including full PC shutdowns and invisible buildings. Crashes and Fixes collects what the community and the developer have concluded so far.
