Pax Autocratica Update History and Patch Notes
Every Pax Autocratica patch since Early Access launch, what changed in Directive AG-14, and whether updates put your saves at risk. Dated and sourced.
Updated Aug 16 · Last verified: 2026-08-16
Pax Autocratica entered Early Access on August 10, 2026 and has been patched three times in its first six days. This page tracks what actually changed and when. For what the developer plans to do next, see Roadmap.
Before you go looking for a version number: there isn't one. Announcements are
named things like "DIRECTIVE AG-14" rather than v1.0.3, so everything on this
wiki is anchored to patch dates instead.
Every patch so far
| Date | Announcement | What it was |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-15 | Directive AG-14 | New capture rounds, combat tuning, save-list sorting, bug fixes |
| 2026-08-13 | State of the Frontline | Not a patch — a response post listing what player reports had already changed, and which problems the team knows about |
| 2026-08-12 | Directive AG-12 | The big one: soldier aging toggle, exile, automatic save backups, difficulty cuts |
| 2026-08-11 | State Maintenance Directive | First post-launch fixes, including a save-failure bug |
| 2026-08-10 | Early Access launch | Release, 17% launch discount, roadmap published as an image |
| 2026-08-01 → 2026-01-21 | Around twenty "DEMO UPDATE" posts | The demo build, patched steadily right up to launch week |
The demo-era patches matter more than you would expect. The demo was updated until August 1, so guides and videos recorded during the demo period still broadly match the current game. The demo itself is gone — see Price and Demo.
What changed in the latest patch
Directive AG-14, August 15. The headline change is aimed squarely at the system players complained about most:
Capture got easier, and less punishing
- Three new advanced Capture Rounds, with higher capture chances against Elites and Bosses
- After a failed capture attempt, that enemy cannot be killed for a short period — so a missed capture no longer means the target dies to stray fire. Your Leader's melee attacks still bypass this and will kill the target
If you have been avoiding capture because it felt like a coin flip, this patch is the reason to try again. See Capture and Prisoners.
Combat tuning
- Weapon Core · Vortex Shell — damage increased
- Weapon Core · Thunderbolt Arrow — damage area increased
Quality of life
- Save files are now sorted by creation time
- Soldier Deployment bar layout fixed at 16:10 resolutions, where text was overlapping
- Localization improvements
Fixes worth knowing about
- The battle results screen could fail to open
- Leader's Inspiration and gathering loop sound effects would not play
- Gathering on the Star Map while being chased by pirates switched the music incorrectly
- Incorrect pregnancy states caused by the Mandatory Reproduction policy
Do updates break saves?
No save wipe has been announced, and the developer has spent three patches making saves safer rather than resetting them. The pattern across the first week:
| Date | What happened to saves |
|---|---|
| 2026-08-11 | Fixed a bug where save data could fail to save correctly under certain conditions |
| 2026-08-12 | Added automatic save backups — if the game is interrupted by a crash, blue screen or freeze, the previous save is preserved |
| 2026-08-15 | Save files sorted by creation time |
Read that honestly, in both directions. The good news is that automatic backups now exist and were added within two days of launch. The less good news is that they were added because early players were losing saves to crashes.
What is still unannounced: whether a future update that changes core systems will require starting over. Early Access games sometimes do. The developer has not signalled one, and has not promised there will never be one.
How often does Pax Autocratica update?
Observed so far — this is a record, not a promise:
- Launch week: patches on August 11, 12 and 15 — roughly every one to three days
- Demo period: around twenty updates between January and August 2026, averaging something like one every one to two weeks
The launch-week pace will not hold; it reflects a team fixing launch problems, not a normal cadence. What it does tell you is that the game is actively maintained and that reported bugs get looked at quickly.

FAQ
What version is Pax Autocratica on?
There is no public version number. The developer names announcements instead of numbering builds. The most recent patch is dated 2026-08-15 (Directive AG-14).
Do I need to reinstall after a patch?
Normally no — Steam updates in place. One exception is on record: the August 2 demo hotfix, where the developer explicitly recommended a full uninstall and clean reinstall rather than an update. That has not been asked for since launch.
Where are the full patch notes?
On the Steam news feed for the game. Each "Directive" post contains the complete list; this page summarises the changes most likely to affect how you play.
Why is there no changelog on the developer's website?
There is no separate changelog. Steam announcements are the only published record, which is why this page exists.

Check the date at the top of this page first. If it is older than the newest Steam announcement, this page has not caught up yet — trust your game over this wiki.
